» IT IS THE SOLDIER

IT IS THE SOLDIER , NOT THE REPORTER, WHO HAS GIVEN US THE FREEDOM OF THE PRESS.

IT IS THE SOLDIER, NOT THE POET, WHO HAS GIVEN US FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

IT IS THE SOLDIER, NOT THE CAMPUS ORGANIZER, WHO HAS GIVEN US THE FREEDOM TO DEMONSTRATE.

IT IS THE SOLDIER, NOT THE LAWYER, WHO HAS GIVEN US THE RIGHT TO A FAIR TRIAL.

IT IS THE SOLDIER WHO SALUTES THE FLAG, SERVES UNDER THE FLAG AND WHOSE COFFIN IS DRAPED BY THE FLAG, WHO ALLOWS THE PROTESTER TO BURN THAT SAME FLAG.

SO SHOW YOU CARE BY "WELCOMING OUR VETS HOME" AND TELLING THEM THANKS FOR SERVING IN OUR MILITARY.

TROOP 128'S WEB SITE IS DEDICATED TO OUR GOOD FRIEND AND ASSISTANT SCOUTMASTER, GARNEY HOUPT, WHO WAS SAVAGELY ASSAULTED BY TWO MEN IN MAY 2005 WHILE HE WAS CLOSING HIS PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE EVENING.  GARNEY SUFFERED SERIOUS HEAD WOUNDS, WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND SPENT MANY MONTHS IN FALLING SPRING NURSING FACILITY RECUPERATING.  AT THIS TIME HE IS STILL RECEIVING THERAPY AND CONTINUES TO RECOVER AT HOME.

PEARLS OF WISDOM FROM LORD BADEN-POWELL

The Left Handshake
The Boy Scout Movement during the War, 1939-1945

WHEN COLONEL BADEN-POWELL entered the capital city of the Ashanti people in 1890 he was met by one of the Chiefs who came to him holding out his left hand. B.-P. held out his right in return but the Chief said: "No, in my country the bravest of the brave shake with the left hand." So began the "left handshake" of the world-wide brotherhood of Scouts.
